My First LTC Experience

By Liam K. (South Coastal Chapter, Marshfield, MA)

LTC 2015 was my first LTC, and I can safely say I’m looking forward to returning next year. I really didn’t know what to expect when I first arrived, but after I was all settled in my cabin, I knew this was the place to be. The events were challenging, the sports were fun, and the people were nice.

My chapter, Awesome Cabin of the DeMolay Chapter (AC/DC), was easily the best chapter by far. The classes were as engaging as a class can be. One thing that I learned was that planning events is far more difficult than I thought, as you need to cover every single thing you may need. Another thing I learned is that hiding from a search dog isn’t easy. I also learned how to effectively speak in public through Dad Stauff’s expert examples of how not to speak in public.

AC/DC performed pretty well in sports, did great in the challenges, especially winning the JO Great Race. Our egg even survived the egg drop challenge, and while winning isn’t everything, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t feel good to win. LTC 2015 was one of the most positive DeMolay experiences I’ve had so far, and I hope it’s even better next year.
